Fishers Of Men Sportfishing, Lake Erie, June-July 2007
With MaxedOut, 5/28/07. 11.5# Walleye
5/27/07-Good reports have started to come in the past week as the spoon bite is turning on all over the Central Basin. From Cleveland, good catches on Bad Dawg, Cheetos, and Listerine. Out of Fairport, Dixie Chicken working well with yesterday report including two Eye's at 32 inches. Vermillion, Bad Boy's Money with fish to 11#'s. Listerine, Bad Boy's Money and Bad Dawg to over nine pounds for big fish, 32 pounds total in a tournament yesterday for the Fisher's of Men crew with Listerine hanging. Good reports also on Mallard's Gold Rush, #2 Double Gold Colorado harnesses. From Lake Michigan, Prime Tackle reports Spicy Chicken Wing has been nothing short of a Salmon magnet. Out on the West Coast and the High Sierra's, Steelie Dan-Ger and other orders have been coming in for Lake Crowley, the June Lake Loop for some trophy Brown hopefuls. Plenty of BIG fish out west in the Far Blue Mountains!

Had the pleasure to fish with one of my partners in crime, Tim White of TNT Tackle, Murfreesboro, AR on 3/27/2007. Marc Hudson was kind enough to spend a day with us on Lake Erie's Western Basin. Fishing was slow amongst the remaining Icebergs, but we did manage our limits and a number of throw backs as well. Fish to over 5 lbs. were mostly caught in 10 foot of water, right in front of Wild Wings Marina on our Purple/Chartreuse, 5/8 oz Ultra Hair Jigs.
THIS IS WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT!
Got an order for some spoons and when I went to ship them, found the customer lived about a mile from where I grew up in Van Nuys, California. Exchanged some emails, found out he was trolling some lakes my Grandfather and frequented where the real Ole Pete taught me how to fish, among other more important things. I end up painting a very simple pattern that I recalled worked so well when we trolled Lake Mead, The Colorado River and the other Trout rich waters of California. It wasn't exact as the memory plays tricks on me. But, in the end, I guess it was close enough. Tim's email follows the pics and this is the most rewarding experience I've had with this lure making and I doubt it will ever be topped. When I sent Tim the spoons, I told him if they worked, he could name them and decide whether I should sell it. He named the pattern Steelie Dan-Ger and said he couldn't deprive any of what he enjoyed using them. The fish was a Steelhead, his young son's name is Dan and he said the trout better lookout! Sounds good. Thanks Tim! Continued good luck out there and I wish I could be dragging the leadcore with you when you hit the opener in the High Sierra's. Give a shout to my Gramps, he'll be watching at Crowley!

Just a day on Lake Erie using your spoons. That fish only weighed 10 pounds on Kevorkian. I really thought your spoons would catch bigger fish than that!!!!!!!!!!!Thanks a lot. Brad Talk to you soon. Oh by the way we caught 8 fish Wednesday, all on your spoons.
ANOTHER 10 LB PLUS HAWG FROM THE SMOKIN EYE TEAM!
DAVE'S BAIT GOES FISHING WITH MAXED OUT!
He was a happy guy! Nice 9#er... maybe more... the scale was broke. He got it on a Dead Raven on a Jet 30, 120 back. 29.4 / 20.7. Dead Raven (pictured) was hot between 7 and 9am and then we died out there. Only took 17 today, one short of our limit but they were nice size. Later in the morning Green Puke and Hunk a Lung got hot.
We used the new jigging spoon we bought at Dave's Bait. They outperformed our spreaders. Purple and Firetiger worked well. Purple caught the big one! 8# 28.5 " Mark Shutler
